Fit out innovation, sustainability, and client success in the first half of 2024

Throughout the first half of 2024 Torridon’s workplace team has been active in the market delivering a diverse range of office fit out projects for our corporate clients. From financial services to government, each project presented unique challenges and opportunities. Let’s explore some of the recent works that showcase the variety of spaces Torridon has delivered in partnership with our clients, design teams and construction partners.

8,000ft2 Fit out at 10 George Street, Edinburgh, for Rathbones

When our client needed to accommodate their growing team after merging with another practice and were looking to combine both of their offices, they turned to Torridon for advice. Building on our successful collaboration with Rathbones from 2022, where we delivered 11,000ft2 of space for them in the same building, and other national fit-outs that we had worked on with them since that time, we supported our client as part of their acquisition team to identify a suitable home for their combined business in Edinburgh. This approach resulted in the selection of 10 George Street, and the subsequent fit out of another high quality office space to bring both of the teams together on the same floor, as well as making minor modifications to their existing suite on the third floor to make it suitable as a collaboration and meeting space.

10,000ft2 Refurbishment at Exchange Crescent, Edinburgh, For Moody’s Analytics

At Exchange Crescent, we helped Moody’s Analytics align their existing office space with new working practices. Sustainability was key, but the existing ceiling was obsolete and changing the lighting and ventilation proved problematic. Our innovative approach, working collaboratively with the client and designers, involved re-using the existing (obsolete) ceiling as far as possible in the design, supplementing this with spares from the meeting rooms and incorporating new suspended light fittings, reduced waste and allowed the budget to be invested in other feature ceilings within the office. This not only delivered significant overall cost savings but also created a striking feature at their central hub space that really sets the space apart.

Saltire Court fit out, Edinburgh for IML

Infrastructure Managers Ltd (IML) needed more space but wanted to stay true to their sustainability commitments. We facilitated their move from Thistle Street to Saltire Court, efficiently reusing materials from the existing fit-out. The result? A modern, spacious office that aligns perfectly with IML’s environmental goals, and saving money on their fit out, delivered in time for their lease expiry.

Waverly Gate fit out, for the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry

One of our significant fit out projects this year was creating a comprehensive office and hearing space for the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry at the iconic Waverley Gate building. This sensitive project had strict delivery timescales which we achieved while creating a space that meets the needs of this inquiry and can also be repurposed in future if required for further inquiries.
